Who I am

Hi, my name is Julie Garthwaite. I am a certified E-RYT 500 Yoga Instructor, currently specializing in Inversions, Vinyasa, and Yin styles of yoga.

I started my yoga journey in 2016, and became more serious about my practice in 2017 after a serious leg injury. This inspired me to take control of my healing process, and I was introduced to Yin Yoga. Shortly after, I finished my 200hr teacher training at Season’s Holistic Arts Centre in Athens, Ohio, while simultaneously receiving a degree in Philosophy and Holistic Wellness from Ohio University. This included in-depth course work in Buddhism, Hinduism, and the History of and Philosophy of Yoga. This completely broadened my understanding of what this practice can do for mind, body, and soul. I completed my 300hr training in 2022 at Vikasa Yoga Academy in Koh Samui, Thailand. Since then I have been immersed in studying various styles of yoga from teachers all around the world both on and off the mat. I continuously train with Carmen Aguilar, practicing the C yoga style. This work has been a powerful dive into mobility, strength, alignment, inversions, and hand balances- challenging me to constantly grow as a student and teacher.

For me yoga is more than just movement- it’s a practice of coming home to yourself. It’s the time you carve out to pause, tune in, and show up for yourself without judgement. On the mat, we get to honestly meet ourselves mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Some days are easy, some are uncomfortable, but either way it’s accountable and real.

I believe in yoga as a tool for self discovery. It’s a place to explore how you move, how you feel, and how you respond. Through breath, stillness, and conscious effort we start to see ourselves more clearly. From that place, healing and growth beyond what we can imagine for ourselves is attainable.

My classes are an invitation to be curious. To be strong. To be gentle. To deepen your connection with your body, and understand what’s underneath the surface. To show up - just as you are.
